Day 17 Atherton

Day 17

The aim of the day was for me to take Ed to Herbertson to do his historical stuff and i was going to go sneaky succulent shopping then to see the crystal caves. Then ed says nah not going to see historical village. I’ll drop you off at the crystal caves and just walk around town. RATS!! So i had tell him what MY plan had been. He growled an moaned but took me. Stop 1 was Old Kulara Nursery. Some beautiful plants and lovely succies but they came  with rather high prices. A lady gave us some directions to another lady that sold nice succies cheaper price. So we decided to go find her. Obviously we didnt get detailed directions cause as hard as we tried couldnt find her. Whilst searching we came across a beautiful crater lake called Lake Eacham apparently  home to some fresh water crocs but apparently they dont bother the swimmers as it seems to be a popular swimming place .

As we were near Yungaburra, ed wanted to stop and check out a kindred spirit-the local butcher who happened to have a smoke house. I waited in the car. 20 mins later he comes out with smoked bacon and beer sticks. Next stop was for my Cooktown Orchid at Tajenka Orchid Gardens. Beautiful place full of orchids and other weird plants. $70 later we left with a double orchid, a pitcher plant and some you beaut weak fertilizer hose attachment.

After that ed wasnt too thrilled i still wanted to go the the crystal caves so i told him in my best sulky voice to forget it, so he did but on the way back her dropped me off back at Old Kulara Nursery whist he went and filled the car up. 5 beautiful succies later we headed for home

where we spent the afternoon in the pool.

That was our last day in Atherton. Tomorrow we head for paronella park. Cya xx
